Adding text to top navigation bar

I would like to add my name to the right-hand side of the top navigation bar. For this theme, the top bar is black, with the primary menu on the left-hand side. On the right is a search magnifying glass. Can someone assist me with the CSS code that is needed to add text to the right side of search? My site is still using the temporary link, so I can't share it. I found the instructions previously for a different site, but can't locate them now.
