Ad Placement on Page

Sorry of this is a duplicate post but it doesn't appear my original post was saved to the forum. My site is http://appletechtalk.com and I use Google AdSense to publish advertising on my site. I was using the Google AdSense plugin whgich allowed my to select various areas on my pages that I wanted ads to appear. I could pick page locations for various page types and then paragraph locations for posts. Google has now deprecated the plugin and I am using their QuickStart function. Quickstart places an add at the top of a page, randomly places an ad in the middle of a page and then places an ad below the footer (where it will probably never be seen). I would like to find a way to have more control over the ad placement. I have looked at several other plugins but as yet, have not found one that gives me the control I need. I have reseached this on the Google AdSense support site and they said this is something I would have to work out with the theme developer. My question is, is there a some code I can use that would give me more manual control over ad placements? First and foremost I would like to get the ad out of the footer but it would be great to be able to control the location of all ads. I know I can add an ad to the widget area but I would prefer not to do that as the sidebar is getting filled up with other things. Any code or plugin suggestions would be appreciated.
