As you all know, WordPress 4.5 is on its way to us, arriving on April 12. We at Catch Themes have been busy with preparation for this much-awaited arrival.
The last few weeks, we have been busy going back to all our oldies: our themes and plugins, and giving them a makeover to ensure they are all compatible with WordPress 4.5.
A major feature in WordPress 4.5 is its support for a custom logo, added to the WordPress core. You can now upload a custom logo by default from the customizer. While a custom logo for your website was already available in all our themes, the fact that this is available from the core means a more harmonized experience for everyone. This is a long-awaited feature that will make things much simpler.
WordPress 4.5 is also expected to bring other huge improvements, including changes to the visual editor to make it faster and easier for content creators. There are also time savers for formatting content and adding links. The new version is also expected to provide you with an improved experience in moderating comments.
WordPress 4.5 is also expected to provide an option for users to login to the site by using their email address. This will make it simpler for users. It allows them to save themselves from the hassle of remembering a unique username and password for every site.
Another major change is a responsive preview of the changes you make in the customizer. You can directly see how the changes you are making will display on various devices, including desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Image optimization will improve in WordPress 4.5, with a reduction in size up to 50% without any visible quality loss.
All good news for the community of WordPress users.
At Catch Themes, we are committed to keeping our themes and plugins updated so our customers can get the benefits of new features quickly. Even before this anticipated release, we had done a round of consolidation to ensure all our themes customization options were easy to understand and implement. We updated older themes so we could take advantage of the theme customizer.
Now, we have updated all our themes in anticipation of WordPress 4.5.
To implement the custom logo change, we have migrated all logo options from our current themes. We have taken advantage of the core custom logo support to enhance our themes. Now that WordPress supports a core custom logo, we can support core custom header images easily, and we will provide this option in the relevant themes.
With the new update, there is also a core site icon to represent your site elsewhere on the web. This will replace favicon or web clip icons in the previous versions of our theme.
These changes have been fully implemented for all our themes, and you will not need to redo anything. Your logos will migrate automatically to their new homes.
We have now tested all the changes and released updates to all our themes and plugins. So once you are ready to drive ahead with WordPress 4.5, come on over to our Catch Themes website, and update your theme to the latest version! Enjoy the ride!
