When displaying post excerpts, I notice that the Read More… link is appended at the end of the excerpt.

If the post has a Read More tag manually embedded in it, then the excerpt is cut off there, which is exactly what I expect.

However, in that case, the Read More… link is not added, so it doesn’t look like the post has anything more to it.

@Aaron Giles: If you post content is less then the Excerpt Content Word defined in “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Excerpt Options => Excerpt Length (words)”, then it will not display read more.

Right, but the post *is* longer. It is a long post, but it has a <!–more–> tag in it. The except stops at the <!–more–> tag, but you don’t show “Read More…” even though there is much more behind it.

@Aaron Giles: I think you are not getting me. For the posts, you can remove that more tag. In “Excerpt” layout mode: If you add in more tag, it will compare the word count before more tag and matched with the word count there in “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Excerpt Options => Excerpt Length (words)”. If the post text before more tag is less then Excerpt length then it will not display “Read More”. It need to be more.

But if you want to control your own text with more tag. Then you need to go to “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Layout Options” and select “Show Full Content (No Featured Image)” in Archive Content Layout select box.
