When I was checking the overall score of my site using nibbler silktide, it gave a report as “5 links have no text describing their destination.”.
eg.
Empty link text
Link URL —————- Page URL
goaholidays.ektamedicaltravel.com/ — goaholidays.ektamedicaltravel.com/
(this error for all remaining pages.)

I have left no blank alt attr, no dead links and no broken links. Then why is this error?

and the page url is also the name of my site. Where can be the text to describe the link, is what I dont understand and is what I asked you. I also copy-pasted the error.

It is either your theme error or wordpress error which as a programmer you will surely know.

okay, let me explain.
the home page is a custom link goaholidays.ektamedicaltravel.com with label as ‘Home’
1] the error says no text for link betw home url and page url
How can there be text for the link when the link url as wll as page url is same??

2] the second page name is ‘contact us’
the error says “link has no text” between home url and contact-us url

Did you understand the problem?
Pls check my site. You will understand if I am not clear enough.

@vidyaekta: Maybe it’s talking about the breadcrumb. You can add Breadcrumb pugin such as wordpress.org/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt .

this site and many others are developed by me using wordpress.

what the error is talking about is missing text for the custom url. The problem is the custom link which is the name of the website

How will the breadcrumb solve the issue. I have a brokenlink checker plugin which detects no broken links.

@vidyaekta: I though you are talking about internal link. I still don’t know what are you talking about. Sorry for that.
Maybe you are talking about Title tag in your menu. Then you can add that in your menu from “Appearance => Menus”. See this http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-links

I was indeed talking about internal links. I checked the forum, but did not find answer to my problem.

The suggestion under the error is –
“7 links have no text describing their destination. Links on a page should describe their destination for the benefit of both screen readers and search engine spiders.
Add meaningful anchor text that describes the link’s destination. If the link contains an image, ensure you have provided alt text.”

What does that mean. I have no broken links, all links in the menu have nav label and title attribute. What is anchor text then?

About alt tag in image. We have alt tag in image which is generated from theme. But if you have added image in your posts/pages then you need to manage this yourself. See this http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/uploading-images/ and http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/

I found where the error is. its the featured header image.
Even after adding the alt txt, it shows blank in page source.

@vidyaekta: Did you customize any code in the theme file as it’s showing fine here in our side. I am able to add alt tag without any error.
